Did I just say “joy?” Yes, yes I did. I didn’t say peace or tolerance or ENERGY ... I said joy. Hi there. I’m Lisa Cerasoli, a wife, mother, step mom, professional novelist & screenwriter, and full-time caregiver. My grandmother, Nora Jo moved in with my family two and a half years ago when her Alzheimer’s disease advanced to the point where she could no longer live on her own.
This is when “chaos” of ultra farcical proportions began, and things like getting to work on time, sleeping through the night without interruption, going to a movie on a whim and exercising all went from habitual parts of our everyday lives ... to rare luxuries. With the addition of Gram, my family was thrown into not just the role of caregivers but spies in charge of uncovering the mystery of missing perishables, money, beer (she likes beer!), eye glasses, hearing aids, T-shirts, etc. She especially had a thing for my stepson’s clothes and has been caught on many an occasion sporting an Abercrombie & Fitch T, which looks standout and hilarious on a ninety-year-old woman. (The company should consider expanding their demographic; it’s a real eye-catcher).
